Youth Alliance
Hemoglobal Youth Alliance (YA) is a club that offers membership two times a year: fall and winter. Individuals may join one or both sessions per year. Members will work with their peers in teams to organize and host their very own events in support of Hemoglobal. Youth Alliance members will also have the opportunity to attend skill-building workshops that will help them execute successful fundraisers and develop valuable tools and leadership skills.
Youth Alliance meetings and workshops will take place over Zoom, so you can join from anywhere! It is the perfect opportunity for students who are enthusiastic about making a difference on a global scale through the Hemoglobal charity, but attend a secondary school with no current Hemoglobal chapter. The program is best for students who enjoy working and leading small groups to execute successful fundraisers, earn volunteer hours, and form connections with other high school and university students.
Youth Alliance members will have the opportunity to participate in a number of initiatives as outlined below.
Skill-Building Workshops
Members will be provided with three educational workshops to help build skills such as event planning, marketing , and building relationships with local businesses through sponsorships. This will provide the members with an opportunity to learn about the important skills needed to execute the following events.
Youth Alliance Club-Wide Events
All members will work together with the Co-Managers to host an event focused on outreach for the club. Members will be able to sign up for a skill based subcommittee (logistics, finance, graphic design, advertisement). This will provide the members with an opportunity to focus on a small set of skills.
Youth Alliance Team Fundraising Competition
Members of Youth Alliance will form smaller teams of ~5 individuals to plan and host a fundraising event. The team will conceptualize an event, contact sponsors, design graphics for social media, advertise, and host events. Co-Managers will provide mentorship. This will provide the members with an opportunity to practice and showcase their organizing initiatives and gain networking and leadership skills that they have learned through the workshops and club-wide events.
Youth Alliance Individual Fundraiser Challenge
Members of Youth Alliance will have the opportunity to partake in a fundraising competition by selling customized items. The winner will receive a prize! This will provide members with the opportunity to practice the marketing and sales skills they had learned through the workshops.
We will be honouring students who have displayed exemplary advocacy skills by rewarding them with the following awards:
Youth Alliance Participant Certificate:
Awarded to all members of Youth Alliance who attend all workshops, participate in at least one club-wide event, and a team fundraiser
