Hemoglobal
Outreach
Program (HOP)

The Hemoglobal Outreach Program (HOP) workshops provide an interactive curriculum that strives to impart invaluable knowledge on Hemoglobal's missions as well as its current initiatives to combat thalassemia treatment inequities worldwide. Two years since its inauguration, HOP has successfully partnered with over 15 secondary institutions and has reached over 500 students across Canada.

The HOP workshops are available as two variations each catering to a specific academic domain: health science and social science. Both versions are meticulously crafted with the secondary school curriculum in mind. The health science workshop provides information on the scientific principles underlying thalassemia as well as the current available treatment options. The social science workshop focuses on global health inequities with respect to thalassemia treatment in addition to advocacy and activism.

Some schools that we have partnered with include: Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School, Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute, Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School, Lorne Park Secondary School, Cameron Heights, Stephen Leacock Collegiate, University of Toronto Schools, King’s Christian Collegiate, M.M Robinson High School, John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute, and Ajax High School.
